Maíra Parra - MSc Sport and Health Sciences
When I decided to come to Exeter, I was looking for the best programs around the world in Sports and Health Sciences. I feel pleased to be accepted here and to have the opportunity to get to know more about top research in my field. The staff are great, they are all role models and certainly an inspiration in my career. I find the lectures amazing, I've been learning a lot and know the knowledge I'm building here will be fundamental in the next steps of my career. As the British system of education differs from the Brazilian, the school expects me to do lots of independent studying and to develop critical thinking. I feel lucky because the University granted me two partial scholarships, one for International Students and another award from Santander Scholars, and those grants are helping me to realise my dream of studying abroad. The University offers support for the international community to improve our academic skills in English, I've been attending those classes and it's making a difference to my grades. The town itself is lovely, and represents England in big style. It is full of students and offers many options for leisure time as well. It's like a complete immersion in English culture and as I am one of a few Brazilians around, it makes me feel unique and glad to represent my country here.
