Question 7: How do I prove that I have an offer?

You will need to provide a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from the University of Exeter/INTO University of Exeter. This can only be issued when you have an unconditional offer. To create the CAS, the University will enter your details and the details of your programme onto a secure UK Border Agency computer system. This system will issue a ‘CAS number’ which is linked directly to your record.

Before uploading your details into the system, our Admissions Offices will usually send you a ‘CAS data check’ email to check that the details they are about to upload are correct. You will need to confirm that this information is accurate, or correct any mistakes, before your CAS is issued. Once you have done this, you will be sent a ‘CAS Statement’ which includes your CAS number and all of the details that have been uploaded into the UK Border Agency system including:

  • Your name, nationality, date of birth and passport number
  • The title and level of your course
  • The tuition fees for your course and any tuition fees or accommodation fees that you have already paid
  • The qualifications that the University/INTO have used to assess you as qualified to study your course

You will need your CAS Statement before you can finish completing your application form. You do not, however, need to print off the CAS Statement and submit it with your application, although some visa application centres overseas will request this. You do not need to submit any paper letter from the University/INTO confirming your CAS details and the UK Border Agency is not allowed to request this. Please contact us if you are told by the UK Border Agency that you must submit such a letter and we will advise you.
