Studying is just part of your university experience. There are a number of ways to make the most of your time in the UK, meet local people and get to know your new home:

Exeter students

HOST visits are a fantastic way of spending a weekend with a British family and experiencing British culture for yourself outside the University.

The visit itself is free, but you will be required to pay an application fee of £60.

Volunterring is a great way to boost your CV, develop skills, gain experience, make contancts and give something back. Don't forget that most voluntary work counts towards the Exeter Award.

We host a number of cultural events across our campuses, often open to local residents too.

Events in Exeter

The University in collaboration with Student's Guild societies support a number of cultural events on campus throughout the year. All events are open to students and staff, and some events are open to the public where noted.

More events will be added throughout the year and publicised through Your International News and News In Brief.

 

Public Diwali Celebrations

Sunday 11 November 2018, 2.30-7:00pm.

Activities, food, dancing, fireworks and much more. All family friendly and open to the public. Find out more here.

 

Christmas Day Lunch (Streatham Campus)

Tuesday 25 December 2018, 12.30-16.30.

Will you be in Exeter on Christmas Day? Why not join us for our fantastic Christmas Day Lunch: welcome drink, two course lunch (vegetarian option available), games and Santa will even drop by with a present for everyone. Tickets on sale at the beginning of December.

 

Public Chinese New Year Celebrations

Saturday 16 2019 - City Centre and Forum, 13.00-18.30

Our Chinese New Year Celebrations regularly attract 2500 visitors. Come and join in the activities, watch the dragons and lions dance, all afternoon entertainment from our Chinese students, food and fireworks finale. Find out more here.

 

Diversity Week and Ball

Diversity Week and the Ball are a fantastic way to engage with our international student community. Sports events, Model United Nations, talent shows and the all-important ball at the end which showcases the best international talent on campus. Events in Cornwall

The International Student Experience Group is made up of members from both Universities on campus, FXU, the International Society and FXPlus to provide a range of events to celebrate our diverse campus. Some of our main events are highlighted below.

We also support groups of students who wish to celebrate national, cultural or religious events across campus. In previous years we have helped students to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, Diwali, Chinese New Year & Norwegian Constitution Day.

International Festival - November

Celebrating an international and diverse student experience, this week of festivities culminates in our International Students’ Day celebrations across campus.

Christmas Day Lunch

Monday 25 December 2017, 12.30-16.30.

The Multi-Faith Chaplaincy help coordinate local families and volunteers who open their doors and invite students, staff and their families into their home for a traditional British Christmas lunch.
