International Orientation Programme Cornwall

Welcome to the University of Exeter’s Cornwall Campus at Tremough. We hope this Welcome Week will be the start of a great experience for you. This programme contains all the events designed specifically for International Students. There are also plenty more events for you to get involved with during the weeks following your arrival - please see the Fresher’s Fortnight programme of events at http://www.fxu.org.uk/

This programme of events may be subject to change so please refer to this pre-arrival web page the week before you arrive.

SATURDAY 15ARRIVALS DAY
various Heathrow Meet & Greet Service (8.00, 10.00, 14.00, 16.00). Book in advance online. If you wish to catch the free shuttle to Cornwall please ensure you are on the 8.00 or 10.00 service from Heathrow. If you use a later bus from Heathrow, you may catch the Sunday shuttle bus to Cornwall but will need to organise some accommodation in Exeter overnight.

Documentation Checks Stannary
Admissions documentation checks. Compulsory for all international students. You are required to show original copies of previous qualifications including English language test results, passports and visas before you are permitted to register. Please bring copies and originals. Home/EU students are only required to attend if you have not previously supplied final copies of your previous qualifications including English language test results detailing the award. Please bring copies and originals.
08.00 - 18.00 UniCard Collection Lower Stannary
Unicard Printing and Collection. If you did not receive your UniCard prior to your arrival you can collect it from this location.
10.00 - 16.00 Penryn Medical Practice, Upper Bar Stannary
Register with the local Doctor's surgery
22.00 - 02.00 Stannary Night Upper Stannary
Your first chance to meet other Frshers at this informal night in the Stannary Bar!  DJ and hog roast.
SUNDAY 16 ARRIVALS DAY
various Heathrow Meet & Greet Service (8.00, 9.30, 11.00, 14.00, 16.00) Book in advance online. If you wish to catch the free shuttle to Cornwall please ensure you are on the 08.00 or 9.30 service from Heathrow. If you use a later bus from Heathrow you will need to make your own arrangements for travel to Cornwall (please see our online International Students Guide for information on travelling to our Cornwall campus).

Undergraduate students who have requested a Student Mentor can meet their mentor during this informal session. If you have not signed up for a mentor but would like one, please come along and we will match you to a Student mentor from your programme of study.
 22.00 - 02.00 Stannary Night, Stannary
Meet other Freshers in the Stannary Bar.  DJ and hog roast.
MONDAY 17th  
10.00 - 15.00 Library Tours, Library Entrance.
Tours of the Library facilities. 
10.00 - 11.00 Campus Tour for international students, departing from Glasney Porters Lodge 
Tour of the campus for international students
 15.00 - 16.00 Tips for living in the UK, Peter Lanyon Building
A session to help you adapt to life in the UK.  Includes information about health, banking, registering with a doctor and the police.
 16.00 - 18.00  Escorted Shopping Trip to Asda Supermarket. Departing from Glasney Porters Lodge.
Please wear suitable walking shoes and bring your unicard plus 60 pence for the return trip on the bus and £1 coin for to hire a shopping trolley.
 14.00 - 15.00 Politics Society Meet and Greet

FXU Event - Welcome to the campus with a big party and social welcome in your very own venue, The Stannary.  Free entry, live music and good times!

Free access to MUGA activities (Multi Use Games Area)
16.00 - 18.00  Visit Penryn, Meet at Glasney Porters Lodge
A tour of the local town, including local landmarks and places of interest. 
 18.00 onwards Big Quiz night, Upper Stannary Bar
WEDNESDAY 19th  
12.00 - 13.00 English Language Support for International Students, Peter Lanyon Building
Find out what support exists for student whose first language is not English.
 13.00 - 16.00 Beach Games Event, Gyllynvase Beach, Falmouth
Come along and join in a selection of activities including volleyball and football.  Free event.
 Evening Big Quiz night, Upper Stannary Bar

Discounted swimming session at Ships and Castles Leisure Centre, Falmouth.  Minibus transport from campus available - advance booking required.
