Study Abroad, International Exchange and Erasmus

This information is for our inbound Study Abroad, International Exchange and Erasmus students.

Before you arrive

Pre-arrival support emails

You will receive four information emails before you arrive at the University to help you prepare: 'Things you need to know and do' in June; Practical things to do’ in July, ‘Welcome to the University of Exeter: important next steps’ in August and finally ‘your first week’ in September. Please read each email fully and carry out any necessary tasks.

Erasmus paperwork

Certificates of arrival for Erasmus students will be signed at the Student Information Desk when you arrive at Exeter, after you have completed online registration.

Learning Agreements can be signed by your study abroad coordinator before you arrive at the university, or when you arrive. If you need your learning agreement to be signed before you arrive, please contact your study abroad coordinator directly with a completed agreement document. Contact information for your study abroad coordinator can be found below under 'module allocation'.

When you arrive - Exeter-based students (Streatham and St Luke's Campuses)

You must attend the Study Abroad information sessions on Monday 18 September.

You should attend all compulsory sessions and meet your academic coordinator

During orientation, you will meet with a study abroad coordinator to finalise the modules you will be taking. 

You should first visit the department or College where you are undertaking the majority of your modules (your 'home' College) and then visit the College where you are undertaking the rest of your modules.

Study Abroad and International Exchange students

You should meet the coordinator in the department where you requested the majority of your modules.

Erasmus students

If you are an Erasmus student you are expected to take 75% of your credits within the department specified in our Erasmus bilateral agreement with your university.

Students are expected to arrive at the University on arivals weekend (the specific date depends on your campus and accommodation).

If you are arriving in Exeter after 24 September you must gain permission from your Study Abroad Coordinator. For further information see the International Student Support page.

When you arrive - Cornwall-based students (Penryn Campus)

For students studying at our Penryn Campus in Cornwall, the Airport Collection Service operates on Thursday 14 September. A full list of activities will be provided shortly.

For students studying at our Penryn Campus in Cornwall, the Airport Collection Service operates on Thursday 14 September only.  You are responsible for making your own way to Heathrow for the coach service if your flight does not arrive here on these specific dates. For further information see the Airport Collection Service page.

You will be contacted by your programme administrator by early September to discuss your module allocation. If you have not been contacted by the department you may contact them directly using the details below.

Study Abroad and International Exchange students

If you will arrive after the start of classes, you must gain written permission from your Programme Administrator in advance. Please contact them using the details in the table above. If they approve your arrival date, they will then be able to provide you with information you have missed.
