Report Slug-it-Out is a payments for ecosystem services (PES) scheme in which farmers were offered financial incentives to stop using metaldehyde in the catchments of seven Anglian Water reservoirs. This report examines water quality data to establish whether the scheme has delivered on its primary objective; improvements in raw water quality. We show, through the analysis of the water quality data, strong and convincing evidence to support the contention that the scheme has delivered very substantial reductions in the quantity of metaldehyde being exported from the natural catchments of Anglian Water reservoirs to the reservoirs themselves.
