Welcome from the Dean
These are incredibly exciting times for the School. Based on the success of Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry, I believe that we are now in an ideal position to capitalise on the strengths of Exeter being a top 10 UK university and member of the Russell Group, which in 2012 became the Sunday Times University of the Year and enhanced its position in national and international rankings.
The University of Exeter Medical School is now ideally placed to benefit from the infrastructure, expertise and ambition within the University of Exeter. We will capitalise on the extraordinary successes within PCMD, such as its excellent National Student Survey responses, as well as other indicators of educational expertise and recognition that our graduates are well prepared for clinical practice.
We now need to increase our capacity for high quality education and research. We will be making considerable investments in the future, so at a time when many organisations are looking to restructure to make financial savings we are in a position of expansion and growth. The development of UEMS is clearly exciting. We already have our first students in Clinical Science and will move from strength to strength as we take our first medical students in 2013.
