Neuroscience

The neuroscience theme embraces neurology research across the whole translational spectrum from basic science to mental health research and is funded by MRC, Wellcome and NIHR. We are building on PCMD's strong track record in neurological clinical trials and outcome measures research. Clinical neurobiology research, an upcoming area, is disease orientated and looks at underlying mechanisms focusing on neurodegeneration including motor neurone diseases and Parkinsons disease, disorders of myelinating cells, neuronal migration disorder, and brain tumours.

In mental health our research strengths are in suicide research, and there are strong links with the University's Mood Disorders Centre, a joint project in the field of behaviour change.
