Exeter University Chamber Orchestra (EUCO)
Exeter University Chamber Orchestra
We are an intimate group of 25-30 string players. Conducted by Paul McClure, we are an auditioned orchestra and produce a high quality of music; however, we encourage all string instrumentalists within the university to have a go – we’re not that scary and it’s a great experience!
We play a wide variety of music, from Baroque pieces such as Vivaldi’s Quadruple Violin Concerto, to 20th Century minimalist Arvo Pert, to student compositions. Each term we perform one or two concerts, both in the university and in venues around town.
The highlight of the year is, for many of us, the annual tour. This year's tour was to Salzburg, and past destinations include Lisbon, Prague and Krakow, where we put on several concerts - in between exploring, sightseeing and general fun!
