Clayden is the Music Office's practice building located behind Knightley.

Clayden, located behind Knightley, offers four practice rooms that can be booked unless in use by our peripatetic music teachers.

Practice Room #1 - a small room on the ground floor suitable for solo practice or one-to-one teaching. Contains a Baby Grand Piano.

Seminar Room - a large room on the ground floor is suitable for small ensembles. Contains two Grand Pianos.

Practice Room #3 - a medium size room on the first floor suitable for solo or duet piano practice as well as teaching. Contains two Upright Piano.

Practice Room #4 - a small room on the first floor suitable for solo practice or one-to-one teaching. Contains an Upright Piano.

Acceess to Clayden is by keypad lock and the code is made freely available to Music Card holders.

Please note: no amplified music may be practiced in Clayden.

How to book a room in Clayden

Practice rooms within Clayden can be booked for use by individuals who hold a valid Music Card up to eight weeks in advance. Bookings are made on a first-come, first-choice basis by entering your name and your reservation time on the room booking sheets on display on the noticeboard in hallway on the ground floor. Each A4 sheet represents a week, so rooms can be booked up to eight weeks in advance.

Use by groups or ensembles is permitted providing each member of the group has purchased a Music Card

If you come to use a practice room in Clayden on an ad-hoc basis, please still enter your reservation on the booking sheets, as they are used to quantify the use of the facilities and judge the demand throughout the year.
