Use of the Music Office's facilities requires the purchase of a Music Card

Membership

The Music Card

The Music Office offers an annual membership in the form of the Music Card. The membership fee for the 2012/13 academic year is just £15 per person. This charge is paid even if the holder joins several music societies.

Who can buy a Music Card?

Membership is open to:

  • Current students and staff.
  • Alumni and retired staff.
  • Associate members of music societies.
  • Please note that a Music Card covers the membership of one person only. If a band or group of musicians wish to use the Music Office's facilities then each person within the group must purchase a Music Card.

What does membership entitle me to?

As a Music Card holder members are entitled to the following:

  • Use of the practice facilities in Knightley, Clayden and selected areas within Kay House Duryard.
  • The loan of instruments.
  • Use of sound equipment.
  • 15% discount at Music Room in Sidwell Street, Exeter.
  • Free entry to music gigs at the Old Firehouse pub in New North Road, Exeter on Fridays and Saturdays
  • Other discounts of varying amounts on Music Office events (and some ExTunes ones).

How to purchase your Music Card

  • Online - a Music Card can be purchased using a credit or debit card from the University's Online Store and then collected from the Music Office in Knightley
  • By cash - you can come to the Music Office and pay using cash
  • By cheque  - payment can be made by a cheque made payable to 'University of Exeter'
  • As access to Knightley and Kay House is by a swipe card you will need to bring your UniCard with you when you come to the Music Office to collect your Music Card. Only holders of the new Music Office card will have their University Card activated for the swipe card system.

Please note that the Music Office is open for student contact between 13:00 and 17:00 each weekday - Music Cards will not be issued outside of these times.

Upon joining, members are issued with a Music Card to show payment of the joining fee has been received. We ask that all members carry their Music Office card with them when they are on Music premises. This is purely to monitor the access to the Music Office and ensure that only fee paying members use the facilities.
