The second of these lectures will be presented by Dr Natalia Lawrence, Senior Lecturer in Psychology

Why we overeat and how psychology can help

Rates of obesity in the UK have quadrupled in the last 30 years, with most of us now overweight or obese. Despite widespread acknowledgement of the health risks, many of us struggle to resist calorie-dense foods; supermarkets even sold out of Easter eggs this year!
This lecture will examine the psychology and neurobiology of why we overeat, why some of us find it so much harder to resist food than others, and what researchers in psychology are doing to tackle the problem.
