Event details
Is there a less glamorous material than humble corrugated cardboard in today's world? Probably, but cardboard is still unlikely to be perceived as a high-tech, high performance material. This is unfortunate as the cardboard industry is widespread and mature (low cost, excellent supply chain , including high recyclability), and cardboard can score very highly for several performance indices. Engineers and designers are only starting to discover many applications where corrugated cardboard provides elegant solutions.
In this presentation, Dr Marmier will discuss the state of cardboard engineering with examples in transport, architecture, with a special emphasis on water crafts developed locally.
A complimentary drinks reception will follow the lecture.
