Event details
The Exeter Imaging Network has been hosting a half-day workshop and a series of associated seminar events since 2011. Co-organiser Dr George Littlejohn stated that the network is "grass-roots organised and was originally conceived to appeal to those in Exeter with an interest in acquiring images or getting useful data from them." These events have been supported by the University Bridging the Gaps fund, industrial sponsors and more recently the Systems Biology theme fund and the Wellcome Trust Biosciences Hub.
The Exeter Imaging network (EIN) workshop this September is themed around ‘Imaging Physiology’, and will feature speakers from Exeter and several external institutions. The event, organised by Dr George Littlejohn, Dr Jeremy Metz, Dr Mike Deeks, Jacq Christmas and Dr Christine Sambles will focus on the use of microscopic sensors to measure the physiological state of cells. Confirmed speakers include Nick Smirnoff (University of Exeter), Marketa Samelova (University of Oxford), Ailidh Woodcock (BBSRC), John Love (University of Exeter), Markus Schwarzlander (University of Bonn) and Andy Randall (University of Exeter). This meeting will be of greatest significance to those interested in cell signaling and imaging physiology on a subcellular level, and will provide the latest news on how the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) plans to support bioimaging in the UK.
