Primary Care Databases: challenges with analysing electronic health records

EK will present his personal experiences with working with large electronic health record databases. Focusing on primary care databases, like the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), he will discuss their characteristics, availability and data structure. The advantages and disadvantages of using these resources for heath research will be discussed and relevant methodological and software tools will be highlighted. Examples will also be provided, focusing on research questions where randomised controlled trials are unfeasible.
