Climate change - does the 1.5 degree target make sense?

A free event offering alumni and members of the public an opportunity to discuss climate change with leading climate scientists.


Event details

In June 2017 more than 100 world-leading Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) scientists are meeting at the University of Exeter to discuss the potential impacts of global warming above 1.5 degrees. This event forms part of the Grand Challenges scheme at the University of Exeter.

Alongside this meeting, the University of Exeter is hosting a special event on Wednesday 7 June at which members of the public will be able to discuss the 1.5 degree target with climate scientists.

Everyone is welcome to attend this event, at which we are pleased to feature the following panellists:

About the IPCC Special Report
The IPCC meeting takes place at the University of Exeter and Met Office between 5 – 11 June 2017, and is the second of three Lead Author Meetings for the Special Report on the impacts of global warming of 1.5ºC above pre-industrial levels and related global greenhouse gas emission pathways. This Special Report was commissioned by the UN at the Paris Convention in 2015.
