The Accidental Political Scientist: Inaugural Lecture of Professor Susan Banducci

Professor Susan Banducci, Professor in Politics and Associate Dean of Education, College of Social Sciences and International Studies, will deliver her inaugural lecture on Monday 10 December.

Event details

"From 'pragmatism' to cross-national electoral research, much of my research has been the result of lucky coincidences, reasonable research skills and the ability to apply for a visa.  I have always had a keen interest in the representation and participation of excluded groups and a series of research posts in distant, geographically and otherwise, locations has allowed me to examine how similarly excluded individuals may be more likely to participate in one country than another.  In this lecture, using an accidental sample of countries, I review some of the research I have produced with my generous co-authors on how political institutions shape electoral participation."
