The Prevent duty places a statutory obligation on the University to have due regard to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. This event discusses the relationship between the Prevent duty, freedom of speech and our core values, and will comprise:

  • Introduction from Mike Shore-Nye - Registrar and Secretary, University of Exeter
  • Prevent, Freedom of Expression and the Law - Geraldine Swanton, Lawyer for Shakespeare Martineau and advisor to the Higher Education Sector
  • Prevent, Freedom of Expression and Our Values - Linda Peka, Chief College Operations Officer and VCEG lead for Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity
  • Questions and answers
