Excitement mounting for University Children in Need Extravaganza

Hundreds of students and school children are busy preparing for a celebration with Pudsey as they transform The Forum at the University of Exeter into a family-friendly open party. A packed programme of free entertainment will be broadcast nationwide, raising thousands of pounds for Children in Need on Friday November 16 2012.

Hosted by BBC presenters David Fitzgerald and Victoria Graham, the festivities will start at 1.30pm. Activities will include a Teddy Bear’s Picnic tea party, a grand raffle, children’s face painting and a variety of sports challenges. The event will feature in live broadcasts by the BBC Spotlight team as well as linking to the national TV network programme throughout the evening.

Crowds will be entertained with everything from stunts to slime, with features including stilt walkers, circus acts, mountain bike trials and the iconic bath of beans. Spectators will be treated to live performances of music, drama and much more from University Societies throughout the event, and hands-on displays will showcase the fun side of academic activities.

Anyone can register for a free ticket at pudseytickets@bbc.co.uk. Just email and tell Pudsey what you’re doing to raise money and how many people in your group would like to come along.

Pounds for Pudsey

Nationwide, hundreds of thousands of students will be raising funds for local charities through BBC Children in Need. With the national spotlight on Exeter, members of the University’s Students’ Guild will pull out all the stops, including baking, pedalling and dunking their way towards raising as much as possible for the cause.

BBC Children in Need Choir

One of the highlights of the national TV show will be the 2,000-strong BBC Children In Need Choir, which will include 200 youngsters from across Devon, Cornwall and the Channel Islands. They will make up one of 15 choirs representing regions across the UK, who will link up for a national choral performance. The performance will take place in the Street area of the Forum between approximately 8.15pm and 8.45pm.
