Event details

We invite you to join us for an exciting session led by Sarah Ellis, Co-founder of Amazing If and co-author of The Squiggly Career, who will discuss the 5 skills for success. Dr Claire Dinan, Jackie Bagnall and Dr Jane Shen will also be sharing updates from the University, and there will be an opportunity to connect with your peers during a breakout session.

The 5 Skills to Succeed
Careers today are characterised by change, ambiguity and possibility. A one size fits all successful career has disappeared and our jobs now give us the opportunity to learn, explore and experiment.

This is a fast paced and action focused introduction to squiggly careers: what they are, why they matter and, most importantly, the actions you can take to kick-start your self-development and learning.

About Sarah:
Sarah Ellis is the co-founder of Amazing If, a company with an ambition to make careers better for everyone. Together with her business partner Helen Tupper, she is the author of The Sunday Times number one bestseller The Squiggly Career (Penguin) and host of the Squiggly Careers podcast. In January 2021 they recorded their TEDx talk 'The best career path isn’t always a straight line' at Abbey Road Studios in London.

Prior to Amazing If Sarah’s career included leadership roles at Barclays and Sainsbury’s before becoming Managing Director at creative agency Gravity Road. Sarah is an alumnus of Harvard, London and Warwick Business Schools (MBA), a qualified professional coach and a mental health first aider.
