Have you had an innovative idea for an app for mobile devices? Are you working on software already? Do you have an idea for an app that you would like to explore but don’t have the technical expertise?

Here is your chance to win funding to help design and get your app built.

This competition for staff and students of the University of Exeter will support the development and use of specialist apps, encourage entrepreneurship, enhance research and help create impact and public engagement opportunities.

The competition has three categories.

• Commercial
• Research enabling
• Societal benefit

The most inventive, publicly beneficial and commercially promising app/app ideas will receive funding for development by professional software developers and will be supported to launch.
The competition is open to all staff and students. The closing date for completed applications is 28 March 2014.

App workshops

Individuals interested in entering are encouraged to register for one of our workshops. These will help those who have an idea they would like to develop but have little or no technical expertise, and will also help you pick up tips on what makes an app successful.

• March 4 - Cornwall workshop
• March 7 - Exeter workshop

On registering you will be allocated a 30-45 minute slot during the day. If you need to meet at a specific time during the day please let us know.
