Are you a cyborg?

Does increasing reliance on technology mean that our minds are no longer in our heads?

Event details

Information

Cyborgs are beings that are part human, part machine.

They have weird implants in their heads that allow them to see through walls or do calculations with lightning speed.

We tend to think of cyborgs as strange creatures, who live only in science fiction. And yet we humans rely on all sorts of tools and devices to get around the world, from pen and paper to iPhones.

In the future, we might wear glasses that show us the name of the street we’re on and how to find the nearest café. Are humans becoming cyborgs? Or are we already?

Come along and discuss these questions with philosophers and cognitive scientists, and see some of the technology that might help to provide us with answers.
