Event details

The Press Office is arranging a master class with the Science Media Centre on how to deal with the national media. All research-facing staff are welcome to attend this event.

The focus will be on science communication with the media in general but will include a section on communicating research involving animals.

The Science Media Centre is the UKs leading authority on science communication. It provides journalists with what they need in the timeframe they need it, from interviews with leading experts to timely press briefings on topical issues.  The SMC works mainly with science and news journalists in the UK’s national news outlets so are expertly placed to be able to give an overview of the current media landscape and expert advice on how to go about dealing with the press.

The seminar will be held between 12.30 – 14.00 on Wednesday 4 February 2015 in the Streatham Campus Innovation Centre conference room. A buffet lunch will be provided.

Please RSVP by emailing Jo Bowler if you would like to attend so we can organise catering and transport.

Transport will be arranged from the Penryn Campus if there is sufficient demand.
