After much deliberation, I finally decided on healthcare. My current role involves dealing with compliancy for a group of care homes for elderly, but I also have the opportunity create and implement strategies that improve the overall quality of our services. Roseanna Freiburghaus- trainee Child and Family Social Worker, Frontline I have just qualified as a Social Worker through the Frontline graduate scheme after a year of intense full time studying alongside full time on the job training. I now work with statutory Children’s Services in Manchester whilst undertaking an MA, the second half of the programme. As someone who has always had a commitment to working with disadvantage children and young people to support them to reach their potential, social work offers the chance to promote positive change with families to keep children safe and puts you in a powerful position for social justice. I look forward to talking to anyone with any questions about children and families social work, graduate schemes or a career in working with people. I graduated with a BA in English Literature at Tremough in 2012 and can’t wait to come back for the event to give a little bit back of what the campus has given me. Jo Reid - Business Development and Operations Manager, CommsConsultCommsConsult is an organisation that supports NGOs and are specialists in strategic communications. Jo has worked in the international development and humanitarian sectors for 8 years across both communications and programmes teams and including 4 years work as a Project Manager leading large teams in Africa and Asia. Her field experience ranges from emergency and transitional contexts such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger (Malian crisis), Myanmar and Lebanon (Syrian crisis) to more developmental states such as Kenya, Namibia and Ghana and has covered all phases of project cycle management: from project scoping and development, to start-up, implementation and monitoring & evaluation.Throughout her journey in the sector, Jo has built up substantial experience of working with senior level individuals, partners (including government ministries) and donors (such as DFID, DG ECHO, SIDA) and thus also brings strong advocacy and negotiating ability, including in cross-cultural contexts.
