Plymouth Marine Laboratory - University of Exeter Science Day 2016

An event to facilitate collaboration

Event details

What is the event about?

The Plymouth Marine Laboratory - University of Exeter Science Day is held to facilitate collaboration between the University of Exeter and PML. This is the third event of its kind since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between UoE and PML in July 2013 (see press release). This unique partnership supports joint investigations to answer fundamental questions about how the ocean functions, how it may be changing and how we can benefit from the many goods and services it offers while ensuring it has a healthy, sustainable future. In the past three years, 16 projects have been co-funded by the two organisations to explore new areas of collaboration, taking advantage of the widened pool of multidisciplinary expertise that the two organisations bring together.

During the Science Day, researchers are invited to present their findings in flash (5-min) presentations which can be on any topic. Flash talks and posters indicated during registration will be confirmed after 29 March. Both PML and UoE will additionally highlight a number of their research and innovation platforms which are available to foster future collaboration.

In the afternoon, some of PML’s key facilities will be demonstrated on site, while room for break-out sessions is also provided. Please indicate your preference for demonstrations to attend in the afternoon during registration. Due to limited capacity, visits to the ship will be limited to the first to register.
