South West Partnership for Environmental and Economic Prosperity - SWEEP

Event details

Is the success of your sector reliant on the natural environment here in the South West?

If your answer is yes, we’d like you to help us shape the activities of an exciting new partnership that we are developing. SWEEP is led by the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth and the Plymouth Marine Laboratory.

What is the event about?

We are designing a £5 million programme of activities to work with the SW business community, to support economic growth of the region through its natural capital, and to build business resilience and confidence in response to environmental and socio-economic pressures.

We are applying to the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) for the funding. This will enable us to deploy a range of innovative mechanisms and bespoke tools to help businesses better understand and manage the vast array of risks and opportunities presented by the natural environment.

Applying cutting-edge research will help us to find better ways to mitigate environmental risks, and ensure more sustainable growth of the natural resources on which our region is intrinsically dependant. Crucially, we will also work with policymakers and academics to ensure these solutions meet both public- and private-sector needs.

Who should attend?

We would like to invite business leaders, sector representatives and entrepreneurs to contribute to a focus group to help inform and shape the SWEEP offer. We want to work with you to ensure that SWEEP will deliver the solutions, tools and mechanisms that the South West business community needs.

The workshop will be held on the 21st June, 10am – 1pm including lunch, at Plymouth Science Park.
