In such times there is a resurgence of nationalism, a resistance to global responsibility, and a desire for strong leadership. The meaning of and relationship between freedom, justice and power are freshly contested, while the gap between the rich and the poor widens. The church is called to exercise a prophetic ministry and contribute to the renewal of political systems that serve the common good.
