Dr. Amir Hassanpour has taught communications and Middle Eastern studies at the University of Windsor, Concordia University and the University of Toronto. He is author of Nationalism and Language in Kurdistan, 1918-1985 (1992), and has contributed numerous articles on the Kurdish language and media to academic journals and reference works including Encyclopedia of Modern Asia, The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, Encyclopedia of Modern Middle East, Encyclopedia of Diasporas, Encyclopedia of Genocide, and Crimes Against Humanity. His most recent work is co-editing and contributing to the International Journal of the Sociology of Language (Issue 217, 2012 on Kurdish)
