Magic and the Muse

Event details

What is the event about?

The ‘Million Pictures’ European research project and the University of Exeter are delighted to offer a rare chance to experience a spectacular magic lantern event. This comes to Exeter as part of a two-day international research workshop on lantern slides being held at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum on 11 and 12 January 2018.

Magic and the Muse uses both original and specially-created lantern slides and a genuine Victorian triple lantern. Lanternists Jeremy and Carolyn Brooker, accompanied by live music from multi-instrumentalists Richard Navarro, Nicholas Thurston and Miriam Gould, will present a fantastic combination of music, performance and projection, including a rare demonstration of projection onto a ‘living screen’ using hand-painted slides once owned by the parents of the film actor Peter Sellers.

Tickets are £14 or £12 for concessions . Groups of 10 receive an extra ticket free.

To book tickets to the event please follow the instructions via the Barnfield Theatre link or call the box office on 01392 271808.
