Strengthening research through collaboration

You are invited to this one-day event, celebrating the positive influence of community and public involvement on university research.

Event details

The Exchange is an opportunity to come together, share stories and experiences, and learn from each other. Informal and stimulating, we aim to encourage plenty of discussion and networking and to send you home buzzing with ideas!

Hosted by the University of Exeter’s Public Engagement with Research, and Arts and Culture teams, this one-day event is for those contributing to University research and/or collaborating with University academics and practitioners, as well as University staff who work with communities. All levels of experience are welcome.

Get involved in shaping this event

We are welcoming proposals from those who wish to share their experiences, knowledge and practices with others. Applications are welcome from community members, practitioners, academics and professional service staff.

There are three main ways in which you can participate:

Sharing stories, experiences or processes: 45 minute long sessions that focus on sharing experiences of engagement – including what works, how we know it’s working and sharing different perspectives of engagement

Workshops: 90 minute long sessions enabling a deeper dive into engagement with research. Do you have a process of engagement that you’d like to share with others? Have you created an evaluation tool? Use this time to discuss in more detail the ins and outs of engagement

Panel discussions: 45 minute long sessions to discuss and debate the burning issues of engagement with research.

If there are any topics or themes you would like the symposium to cover, please email Grace Williams (Public Engagement with Research) or Sarah Campbell (Arts and Culture) to discuss your ideas or complete the application form by clicking here.
