Plausible futures for a sustainable industrial system

Part of the Engineering Seminar Series

Event details

Event information

We are delighted to announce that Prof. Steve Evans, a leader in the field of industrial sustainability, will give a talk in the Engineering Seminar Series. Steve is an excellent speaker and will surely share many interesting and unique insights. In particular, he will be able to share his vast experience in leading high-profile research projects.

The next decades will see accelerating change in manufacturing. Technology and our unsustainable use of nature – among other forces - will interact to disrupt the way we make things.

This talk is based on the various future manufacturing studies that we have been involved with, and our research on efficiency, business model innovation and on system transformation.

It seeks to project a positive and exciting future for manufacturing. The future will be exciting and knowledge-based, but there may be some surprises in what knowledge we might need and how we will be using it, including shifts to smaller-scale factories and bio-manufacturing.

This talk will briefly explore and explain what we know now, and propose some of plausible futures.
