New European University rankings strengthen Exeter’s reputation

The Times Higher Education (THE) European Rankings is drawn from data used to compile the THE World University Rankings. It uses the same 13 performance indicators as in the overall rankings methodology. Those international rankings placed Exeter at number 93 in 2015, seeing the University break into the top 100 for the first time and confirming its position among the top one per cent in the world.

Professor Sir Steve Smith, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, said: “I’m delighted to see this further confirmation of Exeter’s place among the best institutions in Europe. We have lots to celebrate, including being named Times and Sunday Times Sports University of the Year, our top ten rankings in the Times, the Guardian and the Complete University Guide and our excellent result in the Research Excellence Framework – the UK’s comprehensive research review. I’d like to thank all our students, staff and supporters who have contributed to this success and I’m looking forward to seeing what we go on to achieve next.”

The Times Higher Education rankings are arguably the world’s most prestigious and widely referenced university rankings, playing a significant role in global degree recognition.

The rankings are the only global university performance tables to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
