The pioneering programme helps talented business professionals address the global challenges of our time

One Planet MBA named among the best in the world

The University of Exeter’s unique One Planet course has been ranked again as among the best MBA programmes in the world.

The pioneering programme, which helps talented business professionals address the global challenges of our time, has been named as one of the top courses in Europe, and joint 21st in the world by CEO Magazine.

The One Planet MBA is a collaboration with leading FTSE 100 and other progressive organisations and allows participants to develop innovative business thinking and new business models. It is taught by academics from the University of Exeter and experts from industry and accredited by the Association of MBAs.

The course, targeted at aspiring business leaders wishing to develop innovative new business models has been placed in the “Tier 1” of courses in CEO Magazine’s 2017 Global MBA rankings for Europe.

CEO Magazine has been showcasing top business schools from around the globe since it first launched in 2008. The Global MBA Rankings was launched in 2012. This year 160 institutions took part, a 20 per cent increase in submissions from 2016.

Courses are judged on factors including institutional quality, international diversity, class size, accreditation by outside bodies, price, work experience, professional development offered, gender parity and delivery methods.

Professor Nicolas Forsans, Director of the One Planet MBA programme, said: “We are delighted to have been named as one of the best MBA courses in the world. This is credit to the talented staff, who work so hard to deliver a programme which prepares its participants to develop the business models of tomorrow.”

Professor David Bruce Allen, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean, said: “The One Planet MBA is the Business School’s flagship programme and we are immensely proud of its success. MBA students this year are from 23 countries and five continents and will use the valuable skills and knowledge the course gives them to make a difference around the globe.”

MBA participants take part in a nine-month-long Personal Transformations module, working with a career coach and business mentor. Throughout the course they connect regularly with business professionals and senior leaders from partner FTSE100 companies, SMEs, social enterprises and leading NGOs.

Alexandra Skinner, Group Editor in Chief of CEO Magazine, said: “Year-on-year the University of Exeter’s One Planet MBA continues to provide an up-to-date, academically rigorous and relevant MBA programme for its students, within a framework of partnership.  The programme’s hands-on approach gives participants the opportunity to collaborate with these active corporate partners, balancing classroom learning with real-world experience.”
