Yemen: From War to Famine

International experts to discuss humanitarian crisis in Yemen

International experts will discuss the causes of the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and possible solutions at a public event at the University of Exeter.

The war in the country has claimed the lives of thousands and millions more people are suffering from famine and cholera.

Speakers will explain what is happening on the ground in Yemen, sharing insights based on their local knowledge, and debate the role of the international community.

The conference, organised by Ross Porter from the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Exeter and Helen Lackner from the School of Oriental and African Studies, will be held on Friday, 27 October throughout the day. The documentary Yemen Under Siege will be shown at 6pm followed by a question and answer session with the director, Safa Al-Ahmad. The film offers a sobering glimpse into everyday life in the war-torn country.

Speakers include Helen Lackner, Ann Feltham, from the Campaign Against Arms Trade and Muhannad Hadi from the World Food Programme.
