Living in the community
Welcome to Cornwall!
Cornwall is a great place to live and study. Whether you’re living on campus or in private accommodation, having your own place gives you greater freedom and independence - but also it comes with a level of responsibility.
“Zip-it!”
Please be considerate when walking home from a night out – this includes the houses you walk past on the way home. Street noise is often considered anti-social by many local residents – especially those who have to get up early for work or have young families. Some top noise tips include:
-
Keep your voices down when chatting in the garden, walking home from a night out or smoking outside.
-
Singing? Did you know that “loud singing in the early hours of the morning” was voted one of the major issues in a recent Exeter Community survey? Perhaps better to save it for the shower…
-
Try not to slam house or taxi doors when returning home.
Professor Steve Smith, Vice Chancellor of the University says “The University values its relationship with local residents and expresses a zero-tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour.”
