If you find you need to save some pennies whilst you're out having fun in Exeter you'll soon discover your own favourite list of places to go to get good value and have a great time, but read through this section and you might find a few extra tips.
Student cards
Perhaps most important for having fun on a budget as a student is, wherever you go, always remember to carry your University student ID with you to receive student discount prices where available. If you don't have one already also think about getting a National Union of Students (NUS) card 'NUS Extra' to receive even more student discounts. See details at www.nus.org.uk/en/NUS-Extra
Mid-week magic
To a see a film without paying the top prices see if you can go at a 'super saver' time which is usually Monday to Thursday before 5pm when you can often get 25% off the usual ticket price, even going on Fridays before 5pm or Monday to Thursday after 5pm you can still make a saving of around 10%.
Orange Wednesdays
To save even more on cinema ticket prices, if you have a phone on the Orange network or Orange broadband (contract or pay as you go) don't forget to make use of Orange Wednesdays where you and a friend can go to see a film for two for the price of one. Just text 'FILM' to 241. You might also want to take advantage of the Orange Wednesday two for one pizza offer at PizzaExpress (overlooking the Cathedral) with free garlic bread or dough balls as an added extra!
