Researcher Development Programme

The Employability and Graduate Development division within Academic Services organise a development programme for all doctoral and PhD students. The programme is aimed at enhancing understanding and professionalism in undertaking a higher level research project, leading to successful and timely project completion, and progression in a chosen career - in academia or beyond. Traditional subjects such as understanding the doctoral process, project-management, writing a thesis, and presenting a conference paper are covered in workshop-based activities. The Researcher Development team also prepare researchers for the wider context of global research and employment in areas such as the impact of research, public understanding of research, entrepreneurship and moving on in your career, with guest lectures, researcher-led activities, expert panel discussions and competitive funding for development activities.

This is in addition to discipline-specific research training coordinated by your College.

You can attend at any stage in your research. There is plenty of choice and variety (over 30 different sessions, many repeated throughout the year) and it’s also a great opportunity to meet researchers from other Colleges. See the Researcher Development Programme (RDP) site for more details.
