• Professor Lynne Oats has been appointed ESRC Academic Advisor for the HMRC Large Business Panel Survey - Tax Opinions panel Survey. The survey focuses on businesses' behaviour and responses to tax policy and processes. It covers the broad themes of business decision making in the context of tax planning and avoidance and the impact of taxes on behaviour more broadly including location decisions.

• Dr Zhenxu Tong is researching Deviations from Optimal Corporate Cash Holdings and the Valuation from a Shareholder's Perspective with the help of a KPMG Global Valuation Institute research grant. This study will analyse how variations expected levels of cash holdings can affect the value of the company's shares and therefore the results may provide guidance to companies on how to maximise shareholder value by adjusting their cash holdings.
