Careers and employment

When leaving the University of Exeter geography postgraduates are sought after by employers because of the range of proven, desirable skills that they find themselves equipped with. These include data gathering, problem solving, project planning, report production, presentation skills and team work. Postgraduates who studied with us in 2009/10 have secured jobs including Environmental Consultant, Climate Change Adaption Manager, Consultant Geologist and Mining Manager.

We have a dedicated Employability Officer who works with postgraduate taught students to arrange work placements and other opportunities to enhance career prospects. A significant proportion of our taught degree graduates progress to PhD study and careers in research. Postgraduate students can also take advantage of the extensive support offered by our Employability and Graduate Development team. Our postgraduate employment and professional development webpages provide information on the range of careers support you can receive at the University of Exeter.
