Our Professional Studies programme is designed to meet teachers’ professional development needs. It is built around a theoretical core which is firmly linked to practice and experience. Research-led modules are linked to practice study, allowing you to introduce effectively the knowledge, skills and understanding gained into your daily teaching practices.

We recognise that serving teachers need the flexibility to study alongside their teaching commitments. Module teaching is arranged wherever possible in twilight or weekend sessions to minimise the difficulty of arranging cover and there are plans to increase online teaching to offer a more effective blend of self-study and face-to-face contact with your tutor and fellow students.

The modules are based on new and useful ideas, new ways of thinking and using research evidence to illuminate practice and school development. In some cases it is possible to waive up to 60 credits of the course via APL (Accredited Prior Learning).

Please note: modular programmes may not be suitable for international students.
