Career support schemes
We are committed to providing you with quality personal support throughout your degree to ensure that when you leave us, you feel informed, prepared and well equipped to reach your full potential in your future career. The schemes detailed below have been designed with this in mind.
Career Mentor Scheme
The Career Mentor Scheme carefully matches you with an experienced professional who will provide you with one-to-one careers advice, support and guidance for a period of up to 6 months, giving you the opportunity to gain valuable insight into their profession and sector.
Our mentors are based all over the UK, as well as overseas, and are at various stages of their careers, working in a wide range of occupations and industries. Once on the scheme, you will benefit from personalised monthly contact with your mentor in whichever form is best suited to you; face-to-face meetings, email and/or telephone contact.
As well as the exceptional support and advice you will gain from our mentors, you will also uncover possible networking opportunities with experienced professionals in that sector and will develop personal and professional competencies which will set you apart from other students and graduates.
The scheme is open to all students and applications are accepted during a 6 week period at the start of the autumn and spring terms.

The eXepert Scheme has been developed to provide answers to all your career-related questions in a wide variety of areas; from advice on how to enter a chosen sector, work for a certain company, find and apply for jobs, or to enable you to simply benefit from possible networking opportunities and industry contacts.
Your questions will be answered by University alumni who have offered to support students and recent graduates (up to three years after graduation). Our alumni cover a huge range of professions and sectors and are building their careers all over the world. You will email your questions to us and they will be directed to somebody who can offer you an insight into their professional experience and offer advice to help you make your own informed career decisions.
