Chinese languages

Overview

We offer a safe, supportive campus environment in one of the most beautiful regions in the UK, close to the coast and with a mild climate and diverse international student population.

In addition to UK students, we welcome many students from South East Asia onto our MA Translation Studies. If you choose to study Mandarin Chinese on our MA Translation Studies, you will benefit from working with UK and European students, for instance preparing presentations as a team or taking part in group discussions.

You will be able to translate in both directions, into and out of English and Chinese. While the main language of teaching and assessment is English, in those seminars devoted to practical translation you will be taught by a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. You also have access to free English-language support through INTO University of Exeter.

All students have access to excellent resources including specialist translation holdings in the Library and industry-standard translation software. You will be provided with a reading list before you arrive to smooth your transition to student life in the UK.
