Medicine & Healthcare

Our Medicine & Healthcare pathway looks at the different routes into a career in healthcare, including but also expanding on the traditional medicine degree. This includes mental healthcare and specialist areas such as medical imaging, neuroscience and sports science.The aim of the programme is to give students a background into what is healthcare and see all that is involved, as well as looking at the traditional role of a doctor.

The sessions are taught be a variety of clinical staff and lecturers to give students the maximum insight into different aspects of life in healthcare and its subsequent challenges and rewards.

As part of our pathway, the students will attend talks by clinicians, from General Practitioners and Nurses to Plastic Surgeons and Mental Health Specialists to encourage the students to see healthcare from a wider point of view as well as give the students insight into the different careers available. The pathway will also include a field trip to a hospital training centre and practice ward to showcase the different environments the students will study and work in.

The Global Challenge of the pathway is a very current issue in healthcare, with a focus on epidemics and management of diseases that can spread across the world.
