University of Exeter and The Alan Turing Institute

The Alan Turing Institute is the national institute for data science, with headquarters at the British Library. Its mission is to bring researchers across disciplines together to advance the world-changing potential of data science.

University of Exeter is a university partner of The Alan Turing Institute. Together with the Turing's university and industry partners, we work together to undertake collaborative research, apply our research to real-world problems and train the next generation.

It will be led by world-leading experts from the University’s Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IDSAI), which will develop innovative approaches to the use of data and address some of today’s most important global and societal challenges.

The IDSAI is designed to form research collaborations and strategic partnerships with industry across the globe, influence government policy in data science, AI and the digital skills agenda, and guide public engagement with social and ethical issues arising from developments in data science and AI, amongst others.

The inaugural Director of the ISDAI, Professor Richard Everson said: “Partnership with the Alan Turing Institute is an exciting and important element of Exeter’s research vision, to pioneer innovative data science and artificial intelligence in our scientific technological, social and cultural research, education and impact.”

Sir Alan Wilson, CEO of the Alan Turing Institute commented: “In order to deliver on our ambitions to advance data science and artificial intelligence research, we need to enable the broadest possible collaboration across the sector.”
