Care homes and care workers

We work closely with care homes and their staff to investigate how we can ensure the best possible care for people with dementia living in care homes.

We investigate how we can ensure the best possible well-being and quality of life for people with dementia living in care homes.

Our work equips and trains care workers to provide excellent care.

Examples of our work in this area include using activity and occupation to reduce behavioural problems rather than inappropriate prescribing of antipsychotic medication; managing and treating unidentified pain; identifying non-verbal responses and awareness in people who no longer communicate verbally and developing resources to support inclusion of the perspective of people with advanced dementia in research.
