Dr Ruth Baker

Ruth is a mathematician working at the forefront of interdisciplinary science: developing and utilising mathematical and computational techniques in order to help unravel the complexities of biological systems and processes. More specifically, the main focus of her work is to understand the mechanisms that lead to coherent spatial and spatio-temporal patterns within the cells and tissues of organisms.

Ruth has an MMath and DPhil (doctorate) in Mathematics from the University of Oxford and began postgraduate life in September 2005 as an RCUK Fellow in Mathematical Biology, at the Centre for Mathematical Biology (CMB), University of Oxford. She has spent prolonged periods as a visitor at: Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences, Germany; Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Melbourne; Stowers Institute for Medical Research, USA.
