Dr Özgür Akman
Özgür is a Lecturer in Systems Biology at the University of Exeter. His work involves the application of mathematical modeling and analysis techniques to reveal the design principles of biochemical and neural systems. He holds a BSc in Mathematics together with an MSc in Bioengineering and PhD in Mathematical Biology, yielding experience in a range of complementary disciplines. Following his doctoral studies, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University College London, the University of Warwick, and the University of Edinburgh.
Currently, Özgür collaborates extensively with biologists and bioinformaticians to quantify how the architecture of circadian clock networks determines global system properties, such as evolutionary flexibility and robustness, critical to their biological function.
