Dr Venura Perera

Venura is an applied mathematician with particular skills and experience in the analysis of large untargeted metabolomics profiling data.

He developed the pipeline used by the Exeter Metabolite Centre for streamlining the process between data acquisition and significant feature identification. The ExSpec pipeline consists of novel mathematical methods he developed, which extended from his PhD in metabolite data analysis, and adaptors for the communication of different otherwise incompatible softwares.

He has extensive experience programming in Java, Matlab, R, php, html, basic Linux scripting and MySQL.

He also develops wrappers and user interfaces to make his methods and tools easily accessible to biologists with no bioinformatics background.

He is also able to assist more widely with statistics, mathematics, general IT and programming.
