Extrasolar planets
Extrasolar planets exist outside of Earth’s immediate solar system. By researching their atmospheres and underlying physics, we can learn more about our own planet, its history, and its future. Exeter unites mathematicians with theoretical and observational astrophysicists in this new field of study, and we are developing strong links with the Met Office enabling us to use sophisticated climate prediction models.
International facilities
Academics within the Extrasolar planets theme have access to a wide array of world-renowned facilities in order to enable their research, including the legendary Hubble and Spitzer space telescopes, plus the VLT array at Paranal in Chile, and the Gemini Observatories in Hawaii and Chile.
