Our purpose
Heritage at Exeter connects inspirational, diverse and accredited academics from across the globe. Our expertise spans multiple disciplines, including History, Cultural Geography, Business Innovation, Archaeology, English, and Performance and New Media. Through our Heritage Network, we continue to build strong relationships with industry partners as well as community groups and cultural stakeholders, and are engaged in developing these links regionally, nationally and internationally. Our ongoing investment in Exeter and across the peninsula has resulted in a significant boost to the region’s contribution to the creative economy, as well as raising its profile as a place of national importance in terms of heritage management and conservation.
Facilities
The University has invested £1.2m in a state-of-the-art Digital Humanities Lab, housing specialist, conservation-grade equipment and providing space for academics, students and creative partners to research, study and collaborate. Additionally, our Special Collections libraries manage archives, manuscripts and book collections that are available to staff, students and external researchers.
Heritage Strategy Group (HSG)
The HSG is the driving force behind Heritage at the University, and has been formed to manage and coordinate research aims and partnerships. The group comprises academics from a wide range of disciplines, who share an interest in advancing heritage research and education through mutually beneficial external collaborations. An intrinsic aspect of the HSG’s remit is to share and develop a critical mass of expertise to ensure that the University of Exeter’s research priorities and strengths are aligned with the needs of the heritage sector.
This will be achieved through: funded research collaborations, consultancy, PhD studentships, undergraduate/postgraduate student placements and internships, staff development and knowledge-exchange events.
